We are delighted to share the news that Garden Designer Andrew Dunne, sponsored by Caragh Nurseries won GOLD and Best in Show at the recent Bord Bia Bloom show in Dublin -– with Millboard taking center stage of the design.
The garden, entitled 'Hit Pause' was inspired by a deep appreciation for our gardens and outdoor spaces as our sanctuary, something which resonated with us all during the pandemic.

Andrew said: "As we were forced to hit pause on our lives, it awakened a creativity within us and a passion for all things outdoors.
This garden hopes to encourage this new-found enthusiasm by demonstrating some of the key principles of good design which can be employed to enhance any space.
It showcases principles such as simplicity of palette, repetition, and the use of colour, form, and texture."
I particularly liked the natural wood grain, which had many of the visitors believing it was real wood...
"I chose Millboard limed oak for the two staggered boardwalks in our show garden as the pale tone was a perfect match with our Italian stone cladding and our beautiful white polished concrete.
The fact that the product is of such high quality only adds to its appeal. I particularly like the natural wood grain, which had many of the visitors believing it was real wood.
We chose to use a polished copper trim alongside the Enhanced Grain Limed Oak boards which worked very well. I have used Millboard products on several of My projects over the years and I will continue to do so into the future.”

The show gardens at Bord Bia Bloom were designed to a brief and judged based on how well the garden met the brief.
Judged by a panel of fifteen judges, all experts within their fields of horticulture. The process for judging is also rigorous, with each garden marked on how well they met the brief, the feasibility of the garden for the intended client, location or use.

Three additional areas are also considered; the overall impression and design of the garden, looking at impact, originality, balance and scale. Construction, taking in the quality, finish and special features throughout. And finally, the planting – the design, colour and texture of the plants, combined with the use of locally-sourced plant material.
Huge congratulations to Andrew and his sponsor Caragh Nurseries – your gold medals are so very well deserved.
