This year marks ten years since we moved into our head office at Bodmin Road in Coventry. And what an amazing ten years it has been! We have grown from a small group of craftspeople experimenting with new products and processes to a major manufacturer and supplier of luxury decking and cladding products. We have achieved widespread industry recognition and have been part of many flagship outdoor developments in the UK and beyond. We are immensely proud of the expertise and craftsmanship within the Millboard team, and we thought it an apt moment to take a retrospective look through some of our notable projects and achievements.
A snapshot of projects
From urban parks, gardens and zoos, to sporting venues, hotels and residential developments, we have seen our decking and cladding products put to use in many beautiful and innovative ways over the last ten years. If only we could calculate the footfall on our decking boards in that time!

Wimbledon, No.1 Court: Bespoke cladding for an iconic stadium
Building supplies for Wimbledon’s £70m renovation of No.1 Court were sourced from all over the world and assessed on their ‘traditional and innovative’ merits. The warm tones of Millboard’s Golden Oak fitted the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s brief of reflecting ‘a quintessential English garden’ perfectly.

Royal Botanic Gardens Kew: Top tourist attraction and World Heritage Site
This 350-acre children’s garden is the most ambitious design project in Kew’s recent history. The four interactive gardens, themed around earth, air, sun, and water, are all linked with walkways and play areas made with our resilient and naturally beautiful decking in Burnt Cedar and Embered Oak.

Floating Pocket Park: London’s first floating park
This ‘urban blue space’ is situated on a hitherto unused and neglected part of the Grand Union Canal. It features lawns, trees, a wildlife island and walkways and decking areas created with our Golden Oak boards.

Channel 4 headquarters: A stylish terrace for a high profile brand
Our Charred Oak and Burnt Cedar boards were chosen by the designers to create a beautiful curved decked terrace at the Channel 4 HQ in London. Its natural look really stands out amidst the surrounding angular buildings.
Chester Zoo: The dragons’ den!
One of Chester Zoo’s star attractions, the specially designed herpetarium houses the zoo’s giant Indonesian lizards. It is surrounded by our Weathered Oak boards for a natural look that can also withstand the heavy footfall.

Contemporary urban property: Not just decking!
This project in Hampstead saw over a thousand lengths of Enhanced Grain boards in Golden Oak used as fascia on the walls of this prestigious new residential development.

Showrooms
In the past two years we have opened showrooms in London and the Midlands, where customers can really appreciate how Millboard’s products replicate the beauty of natural timber while at the same time outperforming it.
Our Midlands showroom is easily accessible from many towns and cities in the country, while our London showroom is on Goswell Road in Clerkenwell, the heart of London’s design community. Both showrooms are open to the public, but the London site also serves as a design centre where we run events, design presentations and CPD training sessions for architects and landscapers.

Innovation
We never stop innovating at Millboard and we have continued to expand our range. The most recent addition to our decking includes Antique Oak, a natural, warm hue that is similar to the tones of tropical hardwood, reminiscent of attractively aged flooring. We also launched Brushed Basalt, which has beautiful blue-grey hues and is consciously styled to transition seamlessly with interiors for a cool and contemporary look.
What goes under our boards is also important to us. Determined to create the best subframe on the market, our team created DuoSpan, a subframe system that enables the construction of distinctive decks, screening and landscaping structures with ease, and DuoLift, which provides firm, structural support and offers accurate height adjustment. DuoSpan and DuoLift work together to provide strength, adaptability, reliability and ease of use.
Last but not least, we have created a range of highly-anticipated cladding with Millboard’s trademark natural wood look and low maintenance. Available in different profiles and shades to create a wide range of looks, it looks set to do for walls what our decking has done for outdoor flooring!
Business awards
In 2020, we were included in the London Stock Exchange Group’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report – a celebration of some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic SMEs in the UK and Europe. Our inclusion recognises our growth so far and our commitment to continuing our expansion.
In addition to this, we have been placed in the ‘Top 50 fastest-growing companies’ in Coventry and Warwickshire for two consecutive years. Despite our growth and success, we are still a family-run business, committed to British craftsmanship and maintaining a dynamic and inclusive working culture. So here’s to another ten years of growth, innovation and pursuing a sustainable path here at Millboard.
